Doctor Who – Colourisation for BBC4

I’m very humbled to have worked on two classic Doctor Who stories (that as far as rights are concerned at the moment) bookend the 1960s era of black and white Doctor Who. I am very much a fan and it was literally a dream come true and I was very lucky to be a part of the team led by lead colourist Rich Tipple.
To celebrate Doctor Who’s Diamond Anniversary, I was contracted to work as part of a four man team to colourise The Daleks, in 2022 for Bad Wolf. It’s a classic story from 1963 featuring William Hartnell as The Doctor and featuring the very first appearance of the Daleks in Doctor Who. The Daleks in Colour is a colourised cut down version of a seven part story with added VFX and music by Mark Ayres that was broadcast on BBC4 on 23rd November 2023. It was available on iPlayer for one year after and is now available on home media releases in popular stores like HMV. You can read all about it the news of the launch at Radio Times and a preview appears in the pages of Doctor Who Magazine.

I then worked as part of a six man team on The War Games in Colour which was again transmitted on BBC4 on 23rd December 2025, cut down from the original ten parts with added VFX and music and is as I type this, it is currently available to view on iPlayer with home media releases on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Astounding work on the colourisation! The cave sequences in The Daleks looked incredible on BBC4.
